ATS and ETS2 update time

SCS Software have now released their 1.55 update for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. This time it comes with updates to the base game as well as to some of the DLCs.

Among the more noteworthy things for both games are changes behind the scenes in the form of asynchronous loading that should lower the game’s loading times, and some changes to the graphics settings menu. The in-game Driving Academy has also got an additional module called Truck Driving Proficiency which will provide some new challenges.

Specific to American Truck Simulator

The Freightliner Cascadia and the Kenworth T680 have both been updated with new goodies to both exteriors and interiors, and a number of other trucks have also got an additional component in new aerodynamic and paintable FlowBelow wheel closeouts.

Four cities in New Mexico – Farmington, Las Cruces, Roswell, and Santa Fe – have got their custom intros for when the player select the cities as their HQ starting point.

Players who own the Nebraska DLC will also notice the addition of new roads in the northeastern corner – US-20, US-75, and US-81.

Specific to Euro Truck Simulator 2

No less than 21 French cities have now received custom city intros which play when the player chooses to start their business there.

To Iowa!

Feeling up to a summer tour in the Midwest? The American Truck Simulator: Iowa map addition DLC will launch on July 10th. Time to go north. Or east, depending on where you start out from.

Get your kicks…

…on Route 66. Yes, the next map rework and updating project for American Truck Simulator now when the California rework has wrapped up is apparently to be the classic Route 66 through the southwestern states of Arizona and New Mexico.

Once the Illinois map expansion drops, the whole area the old and legendary Route 66 passed through will be available in American Truck Simulator, which means it makes sense for SCS to revisit the now oldest mapped state in order to get the road there a little more up to date in all its historical glory.

Roads, towns and the general areas the old Route 66 passes through will be rebuilt from the ground up and we can expect a new experience on par with what we have become accustomed to in the newer maps.

SCS hasn’t provided any date for the project to be finished so we will just have to wait and see. But it is nice to know that they continue with their efforts to go back and improve earlier released maps.

ATS continues to South Dakota

The two Dakotas were a bit jumped over back when SCS Software decided to turn east after Nebraska instead of continuing north, but now it is time to revisit the northern plains.

The newest addition in the map addition pipeline for American Truck Simulator is South Dakota, which – judging by the current order of presentation will arrive once the maps leading to Chicago are completed and released.

New Kenworth truck for American Truck Simulator

SCS Software has released yet another free truck for American Truck Simulator. This time it is the Kenworth W900 Legacy Edition, celebrating that 280 000 W900 units have been produced since its release.

Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’

A review of the Missouri map pack for American Truck Simulator is on its way. But for now, being random:

There are warning signs and then there’s warning signs.

Missouri is available

The next map add-on for American Truck Simulator is here. Since yesterday, April 3, it is possible to buy the Missouri DLC and start exploring the vast lands between Kansas City and Saint Louis.

As is tradition, the launch also means it’s time for a new World of Trucks event – Cruising Missouri. The reward for completion of the personal goal – which is to deliver cargo to or from all 12 cities in the state – is a Beast of Burden ATS truck paint job.

To the shore of the Great Lakes

SCS Software has revealed the next US state in their work pipeline for American Truck Simulator and it will be the one state needed to complete the classical Route 66 distance between Chicago and Los Angeles.

So Illinois it is. Or will be, more exactly, since there are some states queued up to be released before this.

Spooky times

Happy Halloween to you all! It is the time of year for transporting ghoulish goods across both the US and Europe.

As tradition bids, SCS Software have their usual Halloween hauling event going in both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. This year the challenge if you’re connected to their World of Trucks service and using external contracts is to move 13 loads of Halloween cargo between cities of your choice in order to get a couple of nice in-game rewards.

Soon to be a haunted Channel tunnel.
I bet even ghosts would like to go to Shorter College.
