FS22 Platinum Expansion is coming soon

[Edit Nov. 25: There is now a more in-depth review page available.]

It has been a year since Farming Simulator 22 premiered and following Giants Software’s traditional release pattern it is now time for the Platinum expansion to arrive. The exact date is set to November 15 and as usual it will arrive both as the complete Farming Simulator 22 Platinum Edition for new users and as an expansion DLC for us who already have the base game.

The Platinum expansion this time has a main focus on forestry and comes with new things to do in-game as well as with new things to use for doing it. It also comes with a new map – Silverrun Forest – which of course will be ideal for testing out the new machinery and methods.

Since it is about forestry the handling of trees have got an overhaul with new tree species, new planting and harvesting methods, and new ways to transport the timber from the forest with the help of winches, loaders and containers.

Tree time.

One of the new things in FS22 – production chains – is developed further by adding new ones (I have counted to eight new factories) and the brand new construction projects. By growing and selling your trees you can help in the construction of big projects such as a rollercoaster (and yes, you will apparently be able to ride it when complete), or making sailing boats at the local wharf.

Whee!

There will naturally also be new brands showing up in the game. The most well-known probably being Volvo. The Platinum Expansion provides no less than twelve machines from the Swedish brand – from the oldtimer Volvo BM 2654 tractor to the state-of-the-art Volvo FH16 truck and a Volvo L200H wheel loader. There will also be new content from such brands as John Deere, Schwarzmüller, and Komatsu – just to mention a few. A more complete list is to be found at Giants own site.

Big and beautiful.

The Platinum Expansion and Platinum Edition (base game + expansion) will release on November 15th for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Texas DLC for American Truck Simulator

November 15th is the date for the release of American Truck Simulator’s largest map DLC this far. The state in question is of course the big state of Texas and with this addition to the map it will for the first time be possible to drive from coast to coast – if we count the shore of the Gulf of Mexico as that, that is.

But the fact remains, this is a big DLC. Like everything in Texas.

Free Valtras

It’s update time for Farming Simulator 22 again and with that comes some new free content as well.

This time it’s a number of new tractors from the Finnish Valtra brand of which the most novel novelty is the brand new Valtra Q series. But in addition there’s also new added tractors in the A, N and T series.

Since it is an update patch – 1.7.1 to be exact – there’s of course also the usual slew of changes in addition to the new Valtras.

Changes & Improvements

 • Improved quality with FidelityFX Super Resolution 2
 • PS4 only: Fixed support for Logitech wheels
 • Fixed display of driving direction while manual shifting is enabled
 • Visual fixes for CLAAS XERION 5000
 • Visual fixes for CLAAS AXION 800
 • Visual fixes for CLAAS LINER 4900 BUSINESS
 • Visual fixes for Vervaet HydroTrike
 • Visual fixes for MAN TGS and TGS trucks
 • Fixed schema for MAN TGX 26.640
 • Updated Valtra brand logo

Valheim’s Hearth & Home update is coming

The next update to Valheim will arrive on September 16th and is aptly called Hearth & Home. It will add new building pieces as well as a more differentiated food menu. Both things that most likely will be well received by the player base.

Not that the current system and variation is in any way bad, but it never hurts with more fun items to play with.

Rottne DLC for FS19 out now

You like to work in the forest? Then Farming Simulator 19’s latest DLC may be something for you. The Rottne DLC available for purchase now contains a number of machines and equipment from the Swedish forestry machine brand Rottne.

Precision Farming for FS19

The new free Precision Farming DLC has just been released for Farming Simulator 19. Now, this is a rather interesting thing since it’s something as unique as a project that is partially sponsored by an official EU body – EIT Food – as well as having the support of John Deere.

Basically it is an official mod that changes the way agriculture is handled in the game by introducing a more complex soil and fertilizing simulation. When the Precision Farming mod is active, the fields on the map get different types of soil – loamy sand, sandy loam, loam and silty clay – which all have somewhat different properties. In order to know what type of soil is on a particular field soil samples have to be taken and sent for analysis. When knowing what kind of soil is where, fertilizing can be properly done in a modern and precise fashion.

Instead of simply having to fertilize every field a set number of times, Precision Farming makes it possible to put the accurate and exact amount of fertilizer wherever it is needed. Which in the real world means that no more fertilizer than needed is deposited in the ground, which in turn leads to less environmentally damaginging overuse. A win for everyone.

You can read more about Precision Farming on Giants official site here.

Colorado DLC for ATS is here

As of today the latest US state map for American Truck Simulator is released and it’s possible to start driving on the other side of the Continental Divide.

Colorado brings a bunch of new cities and transport destinations like gold mines and wind turbine factories.

The intrepid trucker can also now haul cargo along the Million Dollar Highway. A route as scenic as it is challenging as it snakes along steep mountainsides with, well, limited safety measures (look Ma, no guardrails!).
